Kirsten Lund

Statement:
Sewn Morphology is a recent body of small idiosyncratic and biomorphic sculptures constructed of symmetrical pattern pieces from a personal vocabulary of shapes. The forms and the embroidered surfaces reference the natural world – realistic and abstracted, micro- and macroscopic, while also alluding to dolls with their construction, medium, and size. Old handcraft traditions and haptic labor mix with newer technological imagery from satellites, computers and microscopes.
