“Last winter, I had the opportunity to visit the fiber sculpture exhibition at the ICA in Boston (Fiber: Sculpture 1960 – Present). The show was monumental yet I found myself heartbroken to not see my tribe represented there. Most of the work was enormous, flat and linear, and little in the way of volume or intimacy. So, I asked myself what kind of work I would like to see in a fiber sculpture exhibition and that’s how the idea for Touched was formed.
I am thrilled that twelve contemporary and working artists from all over the world blindly accepted my invitation to exhibit in Nashville this October. These sculptors, all of whom I became acquainted with through social media, have entrusted me with curating this very special exhibition. It’s a complete honor to represent them and to be able showcase this stunning work in my hometown.”
